The EU-funded technical assistance project, “Establishment of Mortgage Rules and Legislation – Ukraine”, together with UNIA conducts a training program in mortgage lending for the purpose of improving qualification of professional staff of financial institutions. The training follows the “train the trainer” principle. Trainees are bankers whose daily work is associated with mortgage lending as well as representatives of the State Mortgage Institution, National Bank of Ukraine, insurance companies, real estate agencies, and other organizations. Upon successful completion of the course trainees will become trainers and transfer their knowledge to their colleagues. EU sponsored courses were conducted between April and June, 2006 whereupon the training program and training materials were transferred to UNIA-Center which will continue administration of this training program on a commercial basis.
